A dead outlet with no tripped breaker usually means the power stops somewhere between the panel and that outlet. Finding where is the actual job.
Often it's a GFCI in another room that tripped and took a run of outlets with it. Sometimes it's a loose connection or a worn outlet that cuts out without tripping anything. Steven checks the GFCIs, the breaker and the connections along the run, so the fix lasts and you aren't back to resetting things next week.

Outlet and switch questions
Every question here is one people actually ask online, and each answer links to the page it was asked or answered on.
Why did my outlet stop working when the breaker isn't tripped?
Most often a GFCI outlet somewhere else on the circuit, in a bathroom, kitchen, garage or outside, has tripped and cut power to the outlets after it, so check and reset those first. If that isn't it, a loose wire, a worn outlet or a failing breaker can cut power without tripping anything, and that's a call for an electrician, especially if an outlet is warm, scorched or smells.
Source: angi.comWhy does my bathroom GFCI outlet keep tripping?
Common causes are moisture in or behind the outlet, an appliance like a hair dryer with a fault in it, an old GFCI that has worn out and become oversensitive, or a fault somewhere else on the circuit it protects. If it keeps tripping with nothing plugged in, that's a call for an electrician to trace.
Source: garagejournal.comDo I need a permit to add outlets or a new circuit in New Jersey?
New wiring and new circuits generally fall under the state Uniform Construction Code and need an electrical permit and an inspection, while a straight swap of a device usually doesn't. A licensed electrical contractor files the permit with the town.
